Maintenance workers saw the largest reduction in 2021: down 35%.

• There was an average of 9,865 people offshore at any time last year, reaching an average of 10,391 throughout 2022. • This rise is due to activity picking up after the pandemic and the effective management of those restrictions. • Offshore levels were around 11,500 between August to October 2022.

• The largest proportion of people ( 49%, 18,084 ) travelled to the central North Sea, reflecting the area of greatest infrastructure. The breakdown for the other regions is: o 4% - West of Shetlands o 11% - Northern North Sea o 10% - Southern North Sea o 2% - Morecambe Bay o 24% - More than one area

• Almost 90% of offshore work ers were from the UK in 2021 ( 33,040 ), of which: o 62% from Scotland o 29% from the Aberdeen area o 36% from England, 22% from the east of England o 1% from Wales o 1% from Northern Ireland o 6% of travellers came from EU countries, with a declining proportion since Brexit o The proportion of workers from other non-EU countries has fallen to 4% , down from 10% in 2010. Visa requirements and immigration policy limit the number of international workers.

• The average offshore traveller was 45 yrs old in 2021 :

• Only 3.4% ( 1,274 ) of offshore travellers were female: o This is 36 fewer than 2020 and 521 less than 2019 o The proportion of females has been relatively consistent in recent years.
