FACING INDUSTRY CHALLENGES

HEALTH, SAFETY & EMPLOYMENT (HSE) DIRECTORATE The Health, Safety & Employment Directorate strives towards making the UK the safest place to work in the worldwide oil and gas industry by managing and co-ordinating the development of cooperative solutions to a wide range of health and safety issues on behalf of the upstream oil and gas industry. The team identifies priority areas for action and drives improvement efforts through detailed statistical analysis and research, allowing the directorate to represent the industry view on emerging issues and provide co-ordinated responses to Government consultations. It also supports the development of guidelines and promotes the sharing of best practice and information. In the areas of employment and skills, the Directorate works with OPITO to ensure the industry continues to attract and retain a highly skilled workforce, responds to Government consultations on issues such as immigration and pension reform, and provides briefings for member companies.

HSE DIRECTORATE: HEALTH AND SAFETY FORUM

Why should you attend? The Health and Safety Forum provides opportunities for members to engage on a wide range of health and safety issues affecting the UK upstream oil and gas industry. It proposes and supports research, studies and analysis to ensure the development of appropriate health and safety improvement strategies and actions, as well as providing linkage with Step Change in Safety. Who can attend? Membership of the Health and Safety Forum is open to all Oil & Gas UK members and is usually attended by health and safety managers or advisors from both operator and contractor companies.

How frequently are meetings held? Health and Safety Forum meetings are held quarterly.
