At the start of 2020, Shell U.K. Upstream business established a dedicated energy transition team which has had a large impact in a short amount of time. From a strategic level through to delivery and culture, the team quickly framed the current and future emissions reality, external environment and evaluated the abatement
This year, Total E&P UK Ltd established an energy management system which is certified to an ISO: 50001 2018 standard. With energy efficiency at the heart of the company’s Carbon Footprint Reduction strategy, the ENMS provides a systematic approach to continually improve the energy performance of assets. Through defining metrics, engaging with colleagues, identifying best practice, and changing approaches, the platform enables innovative ways to reduce emissions and develop new technologies and ways of working. Over 200 separate projects have been identified as part of this process to help decarbonise both operational activities and reduce use of energy within the company.

Cementing their role as a leading partner in enabling sustainable energy production and infrastructure, Wood works in heavy asset industries across a broad range of markets, geographies and technology. Its proprietary SCORE methodology is a logical, easily digestible process that allows an asset or portfolio operator to map the potential for decarbonisation and the opportunities that best suit their overall objectives. Currently working with oil and gas clients on reducing their carbon footprint of their existing portfolio, Wood is applying experience and expertise across carbon capture, renewable integration, efficiency optimisation and carbon offsetting.
