This year’s finalists are….

HishamHamid, Completion Engineer, BP

Connor Robb, Project Manager, Baker Hughes

Steven Scott, Production Technologist, Shell U.K. Limited

A dedicated and highly ambitious engineer, Hisham graduated from BP’s Challenge Programme, demonstrating significant levels of competency and autonomy in his role. His drive for continuous improvement resulted in the delivery of back-to-back completions which included a new best in class well for completions performance on the Deepsea Aberdeen 6th Generation Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit. As well as leading the BP Challenge Graduate committee, Hisham is a member of the Women’s International Network Business Resource Group and has also been selected to represent BP as a young leader at next year’s One Young World Summit in Germany. During the coronavirus pandemic, he started a home- schooling initiative which involved him matching BP graduates to parents.

Connor joined Baker Hughes eight years ago on an apprenticeship programme, and since then has consistently demonstrated personal drive and professionalism in every role he has taken on. Graduating with a distinction in Mechanical and Offshore Engineering at RGU, Connor studied nights, managing his work assignments while pursuing his studies. Recognising his strong work ethic, Baker Hughes selected Conor for an accelerated graduate leadership programme in the supply chain. In two years he has taken on three different stretch roles, delivering significant impact for the business and gaining experience which would otherwise have taken 5 years to achieve. Connor’s innovative manufacturing ideas lead to the delivery of a 210% stretch target for the production unit and the highest revenue shipment for any quarter ever.

Since joining Shell, Steven has become an outstanding

performer in his asset team as a production technologist. Within three months of joining, he planned, managed, and delivered a complex well intervention to restore production from a problem well. An instrumental figure in Shell’s Process Safety Improvement journey, Steven is also an enthusiastic networker and a dependable spokesperson, keeping his peers updated during stakeholder engagements. A strong advocate of diversity, inclusion, and equality at Shell, he also volunteers with STEMNet, giving children from less developed backgrounds exposure to STEM subjects. He is on track to become one of the fastest in the discipline to complete the framework of his development programme.
