Environment Report 2019

4.3 Production Chemicals In 2018, the amount of production chemicals discharged per operator ranged from 0 to nearly 4,500 tonnes. This does not directly correlate to production levels as differing hydrocarbon properties and process conditions dictate the amount of chemicals used. The mean amount of chemicals discharged to sea per operator increased in 2018 to just over 1,000 tonnes, from 852 tonnes in 2017.

A total of 2,415 tonnes of oil equivalent were produced per tonne of production chemical discharged to sea in 2018, a decrease on the 2,625 tonnes of oil equivalent in 2017.
