Figure 36 shows the sources of releases from the last eight years with the single large events removed. In this dataset a significant downward trend in the mass of accidental chemical releases is apparent since 2010. The total volume released in 2010 was 499 tonnes, compared with 75 tonnes in 2017, an 85 per cent decrease. The most significant sources of chemical releases remain the same.
