ENVIRONMENT REPORT 2014

Of the total number of subsea wells capable of unassisted flow (543), 17 per cent (90) can flow oil at a rate greater than 5,000 bopd. This is equivalent to less than two per cent of the total subsea well inventory acquired by Oil & Gas UK to date. Close to half of all subsea wells that are capable of unassisted flow (47 per cent) can flow at rates less than 1,000 bopd.

Upon completion of the subsea data collection, a full inventory of all wells (subsea and platform) will be secured providing a fuller picture of well flow status on the UKCS. This inventory will then provide supporting evidence for regulatory discussions regarding: • Oil spill response capability on the UKCS to allow appropriate preventative and control measures to be put in place • The potential for generic OPEPs for low-risk installations • The appropriateness of the requirements for financial responsibility, insurance and environmental liability
