The northern North Sea region sees a marked increase in forecast activity over the period when compared with previous years, with 547 wells to be decommissioned, compared with last year’s report which found 391. Most of this increase is down to a rise in platform well decommissioning activity, which has increased from 51 per cent in last year’s data to 73 per cent this year, due to a couple of larger NNS assets appearing in the dataset. The activity profile sees a steady rise to 2024 and then a fall towards the end of the dataset, although there is a spike in activity in 2027. A similar profile is seen in the overall number of fields with expected activity.
