In the central North Sea, 281 platform wells, 284 subsea wells and 34 suspended exploration and appraisal (E&A) wells are slated for decommissioning over the period, totalling 599 across the region. Although overall activity has reduced from last year’s forecast — which anticipated 633 decommissioned wells up to 2025 — as some activity has been pushed back, a stable work profile is still expected. In particular, a high level of activity is still forecast in 2018 and 2019, which should represent the most accurate estimates, due to the maturity of projects.
